MEET: Bentley, who brightens the life of everyone who enters The Waverly Restaurant, 2095 N. Beach Road.

Pedigree and Age: Bentley is a six-year-old Pomeranian.

Likes: Bentley is a big fan of little dogs and children, but he just loves everyone. His favorite treat is duck jerky and he prefers “people” food over his own.

Dislikes: He doesn’t like big dogs that are aggressive, and he is a finicky eater.

Pet Peeves: Bentley demands to be acknowledged and if a person ignores him, he will follow that person around until he obtains the attention he feels he is owed. He also expects to be a pampered pooch.

Office Jobs: Bentley is the greeter at The Waverly and likes to sit up front at the gate to meet people. He has a fan base that ask for him when they arrive. Although he is not a barker, he is a watchdog and lets staff know if he thinks something is off.

How Did You Acquire Your Human? Owner Jill Hemmes says Bentley was left at RV World in Ft. Myers by his previous owners who thought he wasn’t a good traveling companion. The RV World business manager took him home but his family situation prevented him from keeping Bentley, so he offered Jill the chance to have Bentley be part of her life.

Owner’s Remarks: Jill says that Bentley is an absolute pleasure and can’t imagine life without him. But the same is true from Bentley’s viewpoint, as during a visit to the vet’s, the vet whispered in Bentley’s ear that “he hit the jackpot” with Jill.
