Pets Choking Prevention
Suncoast Humane Society wants to raise awareness about pet choking prevention. There are over 200,000 pet choking incidents in the U.S. every year! Your pet’s safety is top priority; they want to remind you of the importance of keeping potential choking hazards out of their reach. Here are a few tips to help protect your furry friend. Choose Safe Toys: Opt for toys specifically designed for pets, avoiding small parts that could easily be swallowed. Supervise Playtime: Always be on the lookout during playtime, especially if they tend to chew or rip apart toys. Remove any broken or damaged toys immediately. Secure Garbage Bins: Ensure your garbage bins have tight-fitting lids to prevent your curious pet from accessing hazardous items. Know the Heimlich Maneuver: Familiarize yourself with the Heimlich maneuver for pets. It could be a lifesaver in case of an emergency. Check out this link that goes over how to do the Heimlich on your animal in the case of them choking on an item: https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/health/dog-choking-dog-heimlich-instructions/

Kathryn Kennedy Collins was one of the many individuals who came to Suncoast Humane Society on July 4th to provide comfort to the animals during the evening’s fireworks. Maureen O’Nell, SHS CEO, stated, “We have the very best community who showed up in force to help the most vulnerable on what could have been a very scary night.”

Win a Lenox Nativity SceneEARS Thrift Shop is holding a raffle to win a Lenox Nativity scene valued at $200. During July, stop in the store located at 280 S. McCall Road to enter and look around at all the treasures, household items, and clothing the shop has to offer.
