"Rotary Club of Rotonda Recognizes Englewood Residents with Ann Dever Children’s Advocacy Award

The Rotary Club of Rotonda honored four Englewood residents recently as recipients of the Ann Dever Children’s Advocacy Award. The award is given to individuals who have made a difference in the lives of youth in Englewood. Recognized with this honor are Marcia Ziegler, Kale Dailey (posthumously), Bob Bedford, and Jim Kelley. Their names will be added to a plaque at the entrance to the Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park on San Casa Drive. Jim Kelly has been an active advocate for Big Brothers & Big Sisters for 26 years. Bob Bedford was principal of Lemon Bay High School for 30 years but, his caring and dedication to area youth did not stop with his position at school; off campus he was always involved with area youth and continues to make a huge difference. Kale Dailey, who passed away in 2022, was a special individual who was involved with so many projects serving area youth. He was dedicated to the Rotary Seminar for Tomorrow’s Leaders program. Marcia Ziegler is tireless in her work fundraising and helping kids with scholarships to camps and other activities. She also serves as secretary for Kids Needs of Englewood. Ann Dever, for whom the award is named, was one of the original members of the Rotary Club of Rotonda (formerly known as the Rotary Club of Placida) and was a big advocate for the youth of Englewood, She also founded Kids Needs of Englewood.
