The Conservancy and Community Trust of South Gulf Cove Inc., a small community nonprofit, just wrapped up their fourth annual South Gulf Cove CCT Furry Scurry 5K Fundraiser the first week of February. “There is so much that goes into pulling off this event from start to finish, months and months of planning and details. There are so many behind the scenes people that we cannot give enough thanks to,” quoted Marcia Vaccaro, Vice President of the CCT. “We are elated to announce that our small community nonprofit was able to raise over $25,000 this year with all funds being donated to the following: EARS, Suncoast Humane Society, SWFL German Shepherd Rescue, Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Inc., Rescue Garage, Ruck 9, Peace River K9 Search and Rescue, and in addition to last year, we will be donating to the CCSO K9 unit with an earmark to purchase the next K9 officer vest.” Since the inaugural race in 2021, the CCT has raised over $65,000 to support area Furry Friends and the people that work their magic to rescue and place them into their fur-ever homes. Participating in this year’s Furry Scurry were Cecilia, Scarlett, Drew, Genevieve, and Toby Traub. They are already looking forward to next year’s event.
