In celebration of the 100th anniversary, the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs partnered with the National Wildlife Federation and Duke Energy Foundation in celebration of Florida’s Arbor Day. All 153 garden clubs were asked to plant a tree for Florida’s Arbor Day. Not to be confused with National Arbor Day which is celebrated the last Friday in April, Florida has its own Arbor Day on the third Friday in January. Lemon Bay Garden Club planted trees to replace hurricane damaged trees at their clubhouse garden at 480 Yale Street as well as a Sweet Gum and Japanese Blueberry at the historic Green Street Church, 510 S. Indiana Avenue, on January 19th. Pictured here with the sweet gum tree are (l-r): Sue Killion, Suzanne Bailey, Barbara Gordan, Barb Jacobson, Denise Orzech, Cheryl Tomasi, Deidre Flannery, LBGC President Susan Burke, Mari Franklin (hidden with hat), and Maryellen Bradley.
