Cracker Fair 2020

The 18th Annual Cracker Fair is Saturday, February 8, 10am to 4pm, at Dearborn Street Plaza, 300 block W. Dearborn Street. Enjoy a family-friendly day of fun festivities: kids’ games, crafts, food vendors, artists, live music, lemon desserts and more. It is said the term “Cracker” comes from the cracking of the whip that Florida cow hunters used to herd cattle. “It’s important to keep history alive,” said Esther Horton, Vice President of the Lemon Bay Historical Society. Her family set roots in Englewood in the late 1800s. Peace River Wildlife Center is scheduled to be present. Want to eat a tree? Charlotte Co. Museum Society will be cooking swamp cabbage, the heart of the cabbage palm. “Englewood: The First 100 Years” will be on sale at the Historical Society tent along with “Englewood Then & Now” and other local history books. The Cracker Fair is presented by Lemon Bay Historical Society as a gift to the Englewood community.
