Rachel Gillis

Rachel Gillis was the #1 golfer most of the season. She led her team to their sixth straight team title at the 2023-24 Charlotte County Golf Championship and captured this year’s Charlotte County Golf Individual Champion! Rachel was top finisher at the District Tournament and qualified as an Individual for the Regional Tournament when her “team” failed to qualify. At the Regional Tournament, Rachel shot an 85 (Par 73 course) and finished in 11th place out of 67 players. Rachel recently found out she also qualified for the State Finals!

Patrick Hooper

Patrick Hooper had a spectacular month of swimming. He was the District and Regional champion in the 100 freestyle in a very fast field. In his other event, he was the District runner up and placed fourth in Regionals in that event. He also led both of his relay teams to Regionals and one to the State meet. He qualified for the State meet in both his individual events as well. Furthermore, he set the school record in the 100 free. Patrick had an outstanding month while earning straight A’s in the first quarter with five AP classes.

Andre Gerber

Lemon Bay High School has announced the October, 2023 Sportsmanship Award winner – Andre Gerber, junior, in boys’ swimming. Andre attends practices/meets each day with a positive and respectful attitude towards fellow teammates, coaches, officials, and every opposing team faced. He is a top-notch teammate. He constantly reaches out to everyone to make sure they feel included and seen as an important part of the team. Andre automatically helps when he sees a need. He leads without being asked and his teammates naturally follow because it is done with a genuine concern for the betterment of others. Andre constantly encourages, builds others up, and has a “WE” mentality over a “ME” mentality. When he is not competing, he is behind the lane cheering for every team member, including the divers who are often overlooked, as they compete in a separate location from the swim competition.
