Monty's Stories: Growing Up in a Small Florida Town

If you didn’t grow up here in Englewood, you may be curious what life was like for residents during the mid-20th century. Now you can find out by reading a new book based on the recollections of Monty Birdsey, someone who did grow up here in the 50s and 60s. Monty’s memory and writing style enabled him to write remarkable recollections that were originally shared with a Facebook group called “Remember in Englewood When….” 

Don Bayley of the Englewood Museum compiled and edited his stories in a book titled “Monty’s Stories – Growing Up in a Small Florida Town.” Monty is no longer alive but his recollections can still be shared through this book that can be purchased at the Englewood Museum, 604 W. Perry Street, open Saturdays from 1 to 4pm or online at this link: www.eahmuseum.org. The cost is a $15 donation to benefit the Museum – another great place to learn about Englewood’s past.
