The Hermitage Artist Retreat is pleased to announce two exhibitions opening at the Sarasota Art Museum in the spring of 2024, featuring a collective twelve Hermitage Fellows, including two past winners of the Hermitage Greenfield Prize. The first exhibit, “Impact: Contemporary Artists at the Hermitage Artist Retreat”, runs from Sunday, March 10 through Sunday, July 7, and is curated by former Hermitage National Curatorial Council member Dan Cameron. The exhibit features the work of ten award-winning Hermitage visual artists: Diana Al-Hadid, Sanford Biggers, Chitra Ganesh, Todd Gray, Trenton Doyle Hancock, Michelle Lopez, Ted Riederer, the late John Sims, Kukuli Velarde, and William Villalongo. The second exhibit, “The Truth of the Night Sky”, runs Sunday, April 21 to Sunday, September 29 and is the result of a collaboration that sparked on Manasota Key between two celebrated Hermitage Fellows–visual artist Anne Patterson and composer Patrick Harlin. This one-of-a-kind immersive experience, where visitors will hear Harlin’s original composition, “Earthrise”, while they travel imaginatively through space and time. Sarasota Art Museum is located at 1001 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, and is open Monday-Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and Sunday, 11am to 5pm. General admission is $15.
