Rotonda Golf and Country Club (RGCC) has a new Club Champion! Mark McCloud won the title last month after three days of tournament play on the club’s courses with his low score of 236 (79-77-80). He received a trophy and his own personal parking space at RGCC’s golf courses during his championship year. Mark says his win was awesome and the tournament was a lot of fun. Mark has played golf since he was twelve years old. He is also a former teaching golf professional. When asked if he wanted to thank anyone, Mark says he wishes to thank his best friend, Jason, who usually wins, for not playing this year so he could win!
Mark is also a winner in his personal life. Winning the club championship comes almost exactly one year since he ended treatment for tonsillar cancer (cancer of the tonsils). After his diagnosis, he underwent a two-month treatment plan of chemotherapy and radiation. Mark says he has an “all-clear” regarding his cancer. He thanks his wife, Melanie, for being his biggest supporter, along with his boss, Alan Dalton, at Agility Physical Therapy, David Kelly at Rotonda Golf, his friends and the support of the Rotonda West community.
When he isn’t working as a physical therapy assistant at Agility Physical Therapy, Mark is active in Englewood youth sports, coaching baseball and flag football. You can also find him on the sidelines at one of his son’s soccer games. Mark says his family is very sports oriented. The Englewood Review extends congratulations to Mark McCloud on winning the Club Championship at RGCC and as a cancer survivor champion!
