Friends of the Englewood Charlotte Library will welcome John McCarthy on Tuesday, March 12 at 2pm in the Tringali Community Center, 3460 N. Access Road. His presentation will be on Florida ecology and history, with a focus on some of the early history of Englewood and Sarasota that has not made it into history books. A skilled storyteller, McCarthy is well known for his encyclopedic knowledge of Sarasota and surrounding areas. Currently working as Vice President for Regional History for Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, McCarthy has worked with Sarasota County Government for 32 years as an Environmental Specialist, County Historian and Director of Parks and Recreation. The program is free, and no registration is required.
