Jimmie Counts Bowdoin peacefully transitioned to a higher plane on December 20, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He courageously faced his diminishing health with the same calm acceptance with which he lived his later years. Jimmie maintained his gracious care for others, with the same quiet humor and love he shared freely in his life.

Jimmie was born October 9th, 1949 in Montgomery, AL, and grew up in Auburn, NY, where he defined his love for the outdoors by the waters of Owasco Lake. This love turned to his passion for running events in the Finger Lakes of NY, such as the Wineglass Marathon. He completed several races and marathons over an illustrious 32 year career, culminating with running the Boston Marathon after qualifying in 2010 at 61 years old!

Jimmie met the love of his life, Jennifer Fairhurst in 1975, married in 1976; and was her devoted partner and hero the rest of his life. Jimmie happily indulged his wife, and the love they shared was palpable - an expression of true companionship that family and friends appreciated in their company. "Jimmie is a God!" is a phrase his family remembers well! After 37 years of service at ITT Goulds Pumps, Jim retired and he and Jennifer moved to their dream home in Englewood FL in 2013. Jimmie continued to enjoy the outdoors, gardening, walking with his dogs to Lemon Bay, sharing his humor and love for life with his neighbors, and doting on his loving companions.

Jimmie is survived by his wife Jennifer, sons Jesse and Jacob, niece Jennell, and granddaughter Emelia. He is predeceased by his mother, Arlene and sister Frances. His extended family of in-laws, friends, and coworkers ensure his love will be shared for years to come. A service will be held for Jimmie this summer, details forthcoming. Please send any donations to your local ASPCA in honor of Jimmie's love for all his animal friends.
